Cabbage rolls

Category: Lunch
Sub-Category: Meat dishes
Difficulty/Costs: simple/low
Number of people: 12
Ingredients:
  • 3 heads cabbage or cabbage
  • 3 pounds mixed minced meat
  • 3 onions
  • 3 rolls from the previous day
  • 3 eggs
  • 300g diced bacon
  • 1.5 litre of broth
  • 3 cup cream
  • Salt
  • Pepper
  • 3 tablespoons mustard
  • Marjoram
  • Paprika hot

Preparation:

Remove 12 great leaves from the cabbage and blanch. Then put them into an icy cold water and pat dry with a paper towel. Soak the rolls, then squeeze out the liquid. Mix with egg, bread, mustard, 1 diced onion, salt, pepper and paprika. If you like, add dried marjoram. Mix it well with the mince and form little mince “pieces” and put on each cabbage leave one. Roll up and secure with kitchen string. Put the cabbage rolls in a frying pan and add some of the bacon. As soon as the rolls are nicely brown, pour the broth over and simmer for about 30 minutes. Remove the rolls from the pan and add cream to the sauce, bring it to the boil and bind it if necessary. Serve with potatoes.
