Flannel Costume

The ultimate ‘Fasching’ costume which you can make yourself; unmistakeable and certainly unique. For our flannel costume we will need: two hand or shower towels, elastic band, braces, two flannels (hand-gloves), a piece of soap attached to rope (available at any drugstore) for tying around, a pair of tights, a shower cap and a toiletry bag. The costume works the best when the hand towels are the same colour and the flannels too e.g. blue hand towels and white flannels, the contrast between the two colours works amazingly well. Firstly sew the towels together on the right and left hand sides. Sew the elastic band to the top so that it does not slide down when being worn. To the same side sew on the braces. Sew on two flannels onto the front of the costume as pockets. Put on the tights. To finish off, hang the soap with the rope around the neck and put the shower cap on hiding all of the hair. The toiletry bag serves as a handbag to stow away small bits and pieces.
