Handmade gemstones

Materials:

  • Viva Pardo jewellery clay or something similar
  • Paint (acrylic)
  • Tooth picks, Paint brush
  • Leather strap, jewellery ribbon

Instructions:

Mould the desired shapes out of the Viva Pardo jewellery clay – placing a toothpick through the point at which the ribbon will go through. Preheat the oven to 130 °C and harden the clay (with the toothpick) for approx. 30minutes (take note of the safety advice and instructions for use on the packaging). After hardening, let the shapes cool leaving the tooth pick in there until you are ready to paint.

Paint the shapes as desired. Depending on paint application, after the paint has dried apply a clear lacquer to seal. Remove the toothpick as soon as you have finished painting otherwise it may dry into the paint making it more difficult to remove.

Thread a leather strap or nylon thread through the holes. Sticking additional rhinestones onto your jewellery adds a nice touch.

The gemstones are ideal to make necklaces, mobile/key rings or even as little ornaments.
