Paper windmill

A paper windmill looks lovely on a balcony with a roof. Firstly an old kitchen towel roll is covered with brightly coloured craft paper and decorated.

The windmill is made out of a square sheet (20x20cm). An ‘X’ is drawn from corner to corner. Cut into the paper approximately 2/3 in from the corners. Following this the paper is folded in such a way to make a windmill. Place a pin through the middle of the wheel and in doing so securing the four folded corners.

The needle is then pushed through the kitchen roll and secured with a cork (on the inside of the roll).

Finally a small roof is placed on top of the kitchen roll. Hence the wind wheel or windmill is finished.

Tip: If the wind wheel is to be used outside, instead of paper use something stronger such as flexible plastic sheets (e.g. overhead projector sheets). A wooden stick can be used to secure it.
