Printed table cloth and small bags

Printed table cloth and small bags Printed table cloth and small bags

We will need white cotton to make a table cloth or small bags (the amount depends on the size of the table), light thread, dark green cotton dye, a paint brush (number 4), a few nice ivy leaves- ideally with stem. For the name inscriptions we need a Stanley-knife/craft knife, card for the letter templates and a stencil brush.

Firstly sew the table cloth, leaving a seam of approx. 10cm. It is best to put newspaper over the work surface then paint the cotton dye onto the ivy leaves (including stems) and press them firmly onto the table cloth and small bags. Possibly draw in the finer details with a brush afterwards e.g. places where corners or parts of the stem are missing or simply areas in which not enough colour has been transferred. Depending on the individual dye instructions, after drying iron the tablecloth on reverse. For the initials on the napkins for example, cut templates out of card using the Stanley-knife, paint with the stencil brush, press onto the small bags and leave to dry.
