Window/wall painting with a woollen-Octopus

Window/wall painting with a woollen-Octopus

Materials:

  • Wool remnants
  • Wobbly eyes, felt remnants, buttons
  • A4 craft card
  • craft paper
  • Scissors, glue, felt tip pens

Instructions:

Woollen -octopus:

Cut off 15cm pieces out of the wool remnants – the more wool pieces you use, the nicer the octopus will be. Tie the bits of wool together (tightly) at the top using a longer piece of wool; do not trim this piece as it is later used to tie the octopus to the picture frame. Tie another piece of wool around the wool pieces, creating a head (approximately 1/3 of the length) To make the octopus head bigger, make a ball of wool (in the same colour as the octopus) and place in the middle of the pieces of wool before tying together. Plait the octopus legs out of the remaining 2/3rd strands of wool and knot at the end. To finish, trim any loose ends and decorate the face with wobbly eyes and felt remnants.

Frame:

Cut out a picture frame from A4 craft card - cut out the centre leaving a rim of approximately 3cm. Cut out shells, fish and algae out of craft paper, paint as desired and stick onto the frame.

Punch holes in the top left and right corners and in the centre. Attach the octopus to the centre of the frame via the long woollen strand.

To hang the frame up, thread and knot a longer piece of wool through the left hand and right hand holes.
