Creating a sand image out of self-made modelling clay

Make a thick paste and add sand until you get a slurry texture. Use a board with cardboard to increase the height at the edges, so you have a great frame later on. However, if the modelling clay is thick, enough you can skip that part. Now put the clay on the board and spread it evenly. There are no limits to what you can do next. You could make a hand- or footprint or use shells to create your sand image.

You can make colourful sand easily by adding chalk, watercolours or finger paints. However, you also could stain the sand after your image is finished, by painting, spraying or splashing paint on it.
