Horror heads made of paper machee

Mix up a good quantity of paste and rips lots of bits of paper from newspapers. One balloon per child is blown up to the required size and a knot is tied. The balloon is then covered in paste and the pieces of newspaper are applied. There must be several layers (4 or 5) to make the mask sturdy. The final layer should then be made from white pieces of paper so that the mask is easier to paint. The whole thing must be left to dry for several days (at least overnight in a warm room). The mask can then be decorated as required. A pair of scissors is used to cut open the balloon as much as required so that the child can wear the mask. Before painting it with tinting paint (or similar), the eyes, nose and mouth should be drawn on and cut out with a Stanley knife (this must be done by a helper for smaller children). After painting the mask, leave it to dry well so that the whole thing is nice and sturdy.
