Notice board for the children’s bedroom

A really fun alternative to shop-bought notice boards is a hand made one for the nursery. I decided on a design of small bears in blue and white decorations; of course any other motif or design that can be thought of is fine. Aside from the plywood needed for the bear’s bodies, you will need a cork sheet and acrylic paints in 3 colours of your choice. First saw the body, the arms, legs and ears in addition to the required strips out of the plywood, round any edges using a file and smooth with sand paper. Now you can paint the individual parts before subsequently gluing them together; glue the arms and ears to each bear, and then two bears together back to back so that they sit nestled together on the notice board. Whilst the glue is drying cut the cork sheet to size. The best thing to do this with is a metal ruler and a Stanley knife. Before gluing the cork sheet to the wooden sheet it is advisable to smooth the edges with sand paper.
