Now the Lord is the Spirit, and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom.
(2.Corinthians.3,17)
Where the spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom. Turned around this would mean:
Where the spirit of the Lord is not present, there is no freedom.
What does that mean then? No freedom? A prisoner!
- Internally captive.
- A prisoner of your problems.
- A prisoner of social pressure.
- Captive within peer pressure.
- A prisoner of wishes, longing and illusions.
Everyone can surely find more examples of things which can imprison us. We chase after things which influence our complete thinking, doing and being. We are sometimes so imprisoned that we cannot think about anything else and cannot talk with our friends anymore. We neglect our school work, friends and our tasks. We isolate ourselves with it and we are a prisoner of our own being. We would like to break free but do not manage it.
Jesus offers us such a chance. He offers freedom and frees our mind. He takes the worries, shows us other values which allows us to break free of group peer pressure, allows us to recognise the unimportance of former thoughts, desires and longings and shows us new horizons. Lots of things become easier if we go to him.
Try it out and place your full trust in him and learn a new type of freedom.
