Egg-warmer

Egg-warmer

Materials:

  • Wool, crochet needles
  • Satin ribbon, feathers
  • Scissors

All 3 Hat variations are crocheted out of single crochet stitches.

Instructions for black and yellow-black pointy hat:

Cast on approximately 3 stitches to make a foundation chain forming into a ring, then complete the first row with single crochets (approx. 12 stitches – depending on the wool thickness). Work the second row of the ring in double stitches (in every stitch crochet 2 single stitches). Continue to work in a circle and cast on stitches; ideally test the hat for size on an egg or plastic egg. After the 6/7th row, you continue to crochet without casting on any more stitches. The hats have a length of approximately 6cm; the black hat is somewhat longer as it is still to be turned up. Make a pom pom and attach it to the hat. For the tassels of the yellow-black hat cut threads to size; 10 x 18 cm yellow and 10 x 18 cm black. Double up the threads by folding over and thus creating a loop at one end. Using a crochet needle pull the loop through one of the edge stitches, then take the loose ends and pull these up through the loop tightening as you go i.e. creating a knot.

Instructions for pink hat:

Cast on approximately 3 stitches to make a foundation chain forming into a ring, then complete the first row with single crochets (approx. 12 stitches – depending on the wool thickness). In the next rows (approximately 5 depending on wool thickness) work in double stitches (in every stitch crochet 2 single stitches) until a cover of approx. 5cm ensues. In the next row cast off stitches – work a double crochet only in every second stitch. The next 5-6 rows continue to work double crochets in a circle (about 3-4 cm).Afterwards work the rows (about 4) again with double crochet. Secure the loose ends and decorate the hat with a satin ribbon and a feather.
