Pom-pom figures (Mouse, Pig, Raven and Co.)

Materials:

  • Wool remnants
  • Firm cardboard, scissors
  • Buttons, feathers, beads, wooden marbles, felt remnants, wobbly eyes, little bells, pipe cleaners, coloured card etc.
  • Thread, sewing needle, glue

Instructions:

Cut a square out of firm card e.g. 8 x 6 cm. Wrap the wool around the card; the more wool you use the bigger/nicer the pom pom will be. When plenty of wool has been wrapped around, carefully remove the card, and ideally with two different colours of wool, tie a tight knot around the middle. Cut the loops at both ends with scissors and trim all around the pom pom creating a spherical shape.

Pom-pom figures

Using your imagination, with the needle and thread sew on the eyes and beads for a nose. For ears or a beak, cut the felt remnants to shape and sew those on. Pipe cleaners and wobbly eyes need to be glued on. For bigger animals (ravens, caterpillars) tie several pom-poms together.
