Soap production

soap production

A bath with homemade soap: the soap contains essential oils and improves your levels of vitality. The soaps are produced by using essential oils – oils which are gained from scented plants. The risk of any allergic reaction is therefore very low. If you have any worries, test the soap on a small area of skin before using it or before giving it as a gift to someone else. Essential oils are available in most organic stores and in drug stores. They are highly concentrated and you only need a few drops to achieve the desired results. You can use the soap for your own bath or shower or make it as a gift.

Material:

  • 250 g non-perfumed soap (curd soap)
  • A grater
  • A fireproof bowl
  • 200 ml of boiling water
  • 4 drops of green food colouring
  • 6 drops of essential grapefruit oil
  • 2 drops of essential peppermint oil

Organic stores have a large selection of essential oils which can be used for the production of soap. If you know which scents are your favourites, choose these. Grapefruit and mint, which we have used in this recipe, are revitalising oils, jasmine und patchouli are relaxing.

Rose and lavender oils are also recommended.

How to do it:

  1. Grate the non-perfumed soap into a fireproof bowl.

  2. Carefully pour the boiling water over the soap flakes.

  3. Add the four drops of food colouring and the essential oils. Mix the contents of the bowl carefully with a metal spoon. Leave the mixture until it has become stiff. Do not add more than two essential oils are the scents can become lost if too many are used. If you have added to much oil by accident, simply add more water and soap.

  4. When the soap is hard, break off pieces about the size of a tennis ball and roll them in the hands until they are round and smooth.
