Participants of cross-country skiing or ski touring will learn pretty quickly, that speed is not everything. Those activities are very popular in experimental learning because it offers a positive group experience. Personally, each participant can take a lot way from such a trip.

Who can participate in cross-country skiing?

In principle, there is no age limit (up or down) for cross-country skiing and ski hiking. The youth worker, however, should, ensure that participants are all in about the same age. Older kids or adolescents, due to their physical development have more stamina than the younger ones. This could lead to unnecessary frustration during this skiing trip. Alternatively, the whole group can be divided into two or three teams that are roughly in the same age.

A great benefit of this exciting educational activity is that it has very little preparation time. Most participants have the classic cross-country skiing style quickly internalized. All you need to know in the beginning is that you know how to stop and how to change direction. An experienced trainer can teach that on the trail where he can take corrective measures at any time.

Cross-country skiing and ski touring is considered a gentle sport that is suitable for just about everyone. One of the great advantages is that all muscle groups of the whole body is exercised provided the participants use the proper technique. Also, participants exercise their fitness in the fresh air and the heart of nature. They experience the landscape, so to speak, in hibernation and can make some exciting discoveries. For example, they can try do find footprints of animals. The trekker, who accompanied the group, knows flora and fauna very in its region very well and can provide and can pass on some of his knowledge.

Learn it the sporty way

Especially the national cross-country tracks are laid out in a way so that cross-country skiers pass significant natural monuments or attractions. Participants can also learn a lot about the home country during this athletic activity.

Experiences in a group

An important experience, which the participants during the ski trip make, is mutual motivation. Especially members that are rarely active quickly can reach the point where they feel they no longer move forward. Running or walking on skis, although physically not nearly as stressful as snowshoeing, yet, still very unusual. Who falls back a little, should be encouraged by the other participants. The kids learn that they can achieve a lot more than they thought initially. Other activities can enhance the shared experience. For example, at the end of the activity preparing tea around the campfire to warm up once again.
