French toast

Category: Dessert
Difficulty/Costs: easy / low
Number of people: 16
Ingredients:
  • 400 ml orange juice
  • 8 eggs
  • 400 g cranberry compote
  • 450ml milk
  • 16 scoops of vanilla
  • crushed 1 tsp cinnamon
  • 2 tsp vanilla
  • 6-8 tablespoons butter
  • ½ tsp salt
  • 150 g sugar
  • 1 loaf Dresdner Art, sliced
  • For garnish icing sugar

Preparation:

In a small saucepan bring the sugar, orange juice, cinnamon and cranberry sauce to the boil. Cook for about 5 minutes. Then put aside to cool off.

Now blend sugar, eggs, salt and milk.

Now cut the loaf into equal size slices and soak each slice separately in the egg and milk until saturated.

In the meantime, put the ghee into a pan and heat up. When the right temperature is reached, place the slices in and fry for about 3 minutes. As soon as the “Poor Knights” are finished, place them on a paper towel to drain the excess fat.

Serve with a scoop of vanilla ice-cream, add some cranberries on top and sprinkle with powdered sugar.
