Fruit chocolate skewers

Category: Dessert
Difficulty/Costs: medium / low
Preparation time: about 30 minutes
Number of people: 10
Ingredients:
  • 2000g seasonal fruits
  • Apples, pears, mandarins, raspberries, blueberries, strawberries, grapes, bananas
  • As required couverture or chocolate to taste (milk, dark or white chocolate)
  • Possibly a little lemon juice
  • Skewers in sufficiently large numbers

Preparation:

To prevent the splintering of the skewers put them into water overnight. Wash, clean and cut the fruit into bite-size pieces. Berries and grapes you do not need to cut. Pour some lemon juice over the apple and banana pieces, which will prevent them from getting brown. Take the skewers and put the fruit piece by piece on it. Kids are welcome to help here. Melt the chocolate topping or chocolate separately from each other. Depending on the way you do that, put the skewers with the fruit on a baking dish and sprinkle with melted chocolate. Or you let dry the topping and use it for decoration. To make sure the chocolate topping is hard and the fruit develops its full flavour, put it all into the fridge for two hours. If you like it rather exotic, you can also use oranges, mandarins, grapefruits, lemons, cherries, plums or even ginger. Kids can help with the entire process, just be careful if they are handling knives.
