Kohlrabi Casserole with chicken breast fillet

Ingredients:
  • 2.5 kg Kohlrabi
  • 400 ml instant chicken stock
  • 400 ml milk
  • 125g butter
  • 100 g flour
  • Salt
  • Pepper
  • 1,500 g chicken breast fillet
  • 100 g grated Gouda
  • 120 g bacon
  • fresh parsley
  • Nutmeg

Preparation:

Before you can start with the casserole, you have to wash and peel the kohlrabi, cut in half and the halves into slices. Meanwhile, bring the chicken broth with the milk to a boil and cook the kohlrabi slices for 10 minutes, then drain. Put the cooking liquid into a measuring cup, then melt the butter in the pot and prepare a roux. Add cooking liquid as much as it is needed. Allow the sauce to simmer on low temperature for about 15 minutes; season with nutmeg, salt and pepper. Cut the chicken breast fillets into strips and seasoned with pepper and salt. Layer chicken and kohlrabi in a baking dish and pour the sauce over it. Last but not least, you put the bacon on top and sprinkle with the grated cheese. Bake the casserole is for 25 minutes at 200 ° C and sprinkled with parsley. If you like, serve with mashed potatoes.
